Recent developments in digital technology are revolutionizing the private aviation industry by streamlining the process of booking on-demand jets. New apps from startups like FlyHouse, Jettly, and Levo.aero, along with established companies such as Wheels Up and XO, now promise users access to private aircraft within 30 seconds. These platforms aim to eliminate the traditional brokerage system, which often involves lengthy negotiations and opaque pricing structures.

FlyHouse’s approach leverages real-time bidding from a vetted aircraft directory, allowing consumers to view competitive prices instantly without the need for brokers. Its founder, Sanford Michelman, emphasizes the benefit of selecting from a wide array of options and observing price drops as jets bid for business. Additionally, FlyHouse has introduced a feature called FriendShare, enabling users to organize private groups and share flights, increasing the flexibility of private chartering.

Elevate Jet employs artificial intelligence to manage trip feasibility and costs by evaluating route, fuel, crew limits, and airport constraints upfront. Greg Raiff, the CEO, explains that this technology helps to identify hidden complexities in route planning, thereby fostering greater transparency. Meanwhile, XO’s platform benefits from algorithms tied to over 2,000 aircraft worldwide, providing accurate pricing 96 percent of the time, and integrates with Vista Global's broader hospitality services to cater to high-net-worth clients seeking speed and luxury.

Despite widespread optimism about app-based booking, some industry observers remain cautious. Doug Gollan from Private Jet Card Comparisons notes that experienced brokers can offer comparable or more detailed service within an hour. Nonetheless, the new digital approaches continue to grow, aiming to serve both newcomers and seasoned travelers. Overall, digital innovation is poised to reshape how private jets are accessed and booked in the future.
