ASKY Airlines, based in Lomé, and TAAG Angola Airlines, serving Luanda, are developing in-house maintenance capabilities to support their expanding fleets. ASKY plans a USD 100 million Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center in Lomé through a joint venture with Ethiopian Airlines, aiming to serve West and Central Africa. Contractor bids are expected in 2027, with construction to follow. The initial phase includes two hangars for narrowbody aircraft and component repairs, with future plans for widebody support, including Boeing 787 long-haul aircraft. TAAG is establishing an MRO facility in Angola with Chinese partner Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), with its first prefabricated hangar expected to open in June 2026.
