Air Tahiti has initiated a new project aimed at expanding its ATR Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center at Tahiti-Faa’a Airport. Collaborating with the government of French Polynesia and French authorities, the airline seeks to establish a regional hub dedicated to ATR aircraft maintenance and pilot training, improving capabilities across the Eastern Pacific.
The facility will meet international standards and serve as both a high-level maintenance workshop and a training academy for Polynesian youth. With the airline's extensive experience operating ATR aircraft across its numerous destinations, the upgrade emphasizes sustainability, safety, and regional growth in aviation services.
Officials state that the center will help strengthen local technical expertise, create employment opportunities, and support regional airlines with certified maintenance. It will also facilitate skills development among Polynesian technicians, contributing to economic development in these remote islands.
This project reflects Air Tahiti’s dedication to high standards and regional leadership, reinforcing its critical role in sustaining air connectivity and professional aviation training in the Pacific region.
