AirAsia has reinforced its position as a leader in aviation sustainability, ranking among the top five airlines globally based on the latest FTSE Russell ESG ratings. The company’s scores have improved notably, with its short-haul airlines rated highly in Malaysia and Thailand for 2024. The airline’s commitment to embedding climate risk management, transparent governance, and operational efficiencies is evident through these ratings.
In 2025, AirAsia received international recognition, including perfect scores from 42kft.com and a top-three ranking among low-cost carriers from AirlineRatings.com for sustainability initiatives. Chief Sustainability Officer Yap Mun Ching emphasized the airline’s focus on fuel efficiency and investments in low-carbon technologies to reduce both costs and carbon emissions.
In addition to environmental initiatives, AirAsia actively participates in policymaking, working with organizations such as ICAO and Malaysia’s CORSIA Task Force to manage climate risks. The airline also promotes social responsibility, supporting women’s empowerment and workforce participation through UN initiatives. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance transparency and sustainability performance across its operations.
