AirAsia X Bhd has expressed confidence in its ability to operate flights beyond June 2026, despite ongoing concerns over jet fuel availability and rising costs driven by regional geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Chief Executive Officer Bo Lingam stated that the airline has been assured by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) that fuel supplies are secured until June, with efforts underway to procure additional quantities for subsequent months. He noted that the airline can tank fuel from Malaysia to mitigate restrictions imposed at foreign airports. Vietnam has indicated possible restrictions on jet fuel uplift, following export halts by China and Thailand, which could impact regional airlines. Vietnam imports approximately 60 percent of its jet fuel from these countries, raising concerns about shortages from April onwards.

Regional airlines such as Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have also secured fuel supplies until June 2026, providing some reassurance amidst the broader industry worries about potential shortages. Nonetheless, the industry remains alert to geopolitical developments that could disrupt fuel supply chains and affect flight operations.
