Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) is encouraging travelers to explore Japan’s lesser-known regions through a promotional offer involving free stopovers in Tokyo. Travelers booking international flights from Europe to Japan in economy class before 31 January are eligible for a 24-hour or longer stopover in Tokyo at no additional domestic flight cost, provided they continue onwards to other domestic destinations within Japan.

The campaign aims to reduce overtourism and promote lesser-visited regions such as Hokkaido’s Niseko area, famed for its champagne snow, as well as tropical islands like Okinawa and Taketomi Island, which feature pristine beaches and luxurious resorts. The offer does not cover taxes, fees, or transportation outside flights, and the domestic flights can arrive and depart from different airports across over 40 destinations in Japan.

ANA’s extensive domestic network provides travelers with numerous options to explore beyond Japan’s iconic cities. This initiative reflects a broader effort by airlines to diversify travel experiences in response to increasing tourism pressures on popular hotspots.
