The airline industry in Asia is preparing for a significant expansion in 2026, with numerous carriers announcing new routes and promotional fares. Major airlines such as Peach Aviation, Scoot, Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Korean Air are introducing new services and competitive pricing, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and making travel more affordable across Asia.
Peach Aviation, based in Japan, revealed plans to expand its network, connecting the country’s key cities—Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Okinawa—with destinations like Seoul, Taipei, and Kaohsiung. Beginning March 2026, the airline will offer fares as low as JPY 5,680 (around USD 40), targeting budget-conscious travelers seeking economical options in East Asia.
Scoot’s Indonesian expansion
Scoot, the low-cost carrier affiliated with Singapore Airlines, will launch flights to Indonesian destinations including Labuan Bajo, Semarang, Palembang, and Medan from late 2025 into early 2026. Starting fares are approximately SGD 174 (USD 120), opening new opportunities for travelers to explore Indonesia’s diverse attractions and landscapes.
Additional capacity between Seoul and Bangkok
Asiana Airlines plans to increase the frequency of its flights between Seoul’s Incheon Airport and Bangkok, moving from 11 weekly flights to double daily in January 2026. This increase responds to rising demand and aims to facilitate travel and business exchanges between South Korea and Southeast Asia.
Regional fare promotions and flight increases
Singapore Airlines will offer discounted fares from India to various Southeast Asian nations, starting at INR 19,200 (USD 260), valid from mid-January to late September 2026. Meanwhile, Korean Air will enhance its flight schedule between India and Seoul (Incheon), with fares from USD 587, during restricted travel periods in early 2026. These enhancements cater to the growing demand for travel between India, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
Industry analysts believe these strategic moves will stimulate tourism, promote regional economic integration, and improve passenger convenience, making 2026 a pivotal year for Asian air travel. Increased airline capacities and attractive fares are expected to broaden accessibility and encourage more international trips within the region.
