BBN Airlines Thailand has began a strategic ACMI partnership with Vietjet Thailand, supplying an Airbus A320 for domestic operations between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), Chiang Mai, and Phuket, starting December 1, 2025. The airline received its Air Operator Certificate in October, marking Thailand’s first dedicated ACMI carrier, previously operating under the name Thai SmartLynx during its development phase.
This collaboration includes aircraft provisioning in a 180-seat economy configuration, with experienced flight and cabin crews, maintenance, and insurance, enabling Vietjet Thailand to focus on network management and passenger services. Martynas Grigas, Chairman of BBN Airlines Thailand, expressed confidence in the partnership, emphasizing its role as a key milestone for flexible capacity solutions in the region.
In addition to this partnership, Vietjet has announced the resumption of direct flights to Con Dao, starting December 3, 2025. The carrier will operate daily services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with frequencies doubling to two round-trip flights per day from December 15, 2025, to accommodate increased year-end travel demand. These routes will be served with Vietjet’s modern fleet, offering enhanced service standards for travelers to the scenic island.
This expansion comes amid a significant recovery in Thailand’s aviation and tourism sectors. Recent figures from Airports of Thailand indicate over 68 million passengers passed through the main airports in the first half of the fiscal year, a 12% increase year-on-year, with domestic traffic surpassing 26 million passengers. These developments underscore the growing travel demand in the region and Vietjet’s strategic efforts to meet it.
