Boeing has announced a significant $8 billion deal with Vietnam Airlines, marked by the recent trade agreement between the United States and Vietnam. While the specific aircraft involved have not yet been finalized, the agreement underscores ongoing US-Vietnam trade relations and Vietnam Airlines' interest in expanding its fleet.
The Vietnamese carrier is considering adding more widebody jets, notably the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9. Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates 17 Dreamliners, with an average age of 8.2 years, and has approved the purchase of 50 additional narrowbody aircraft to enhance its single-aisle fleet.
Global Trade and Boeing Orders
In parallel, Boeing has engaged in numerous trade negotiations, including potential sizable deals with Japan and Indonesia. Japan's trade agreement with the US may lead to an order of up to 100 aircraft, while Indonesia is rumored to be considering up to 50 aircraft, including the Boeing 777X. Garuda Indonesia is predicted to be the primary buyer for the 777X to meet its long-term fleet needs.
Thai Airways has also shown interest in acquiring as many as 80 new Boeing aircraft, although detailed models and delivery schedules have not been disclosed. These international deals are expected to bolster Boeing's global order book and support continued growth amid expanding trade collaborations.
