Cathay Pacific has commemorated its 80th anniversary with the launch of special aircraft liveries and a series of celebratory events throughout 2026. The airline unveiled a unique design on its Airbus A350 long-haul aircraft, referencing its traditional "lettuce leaf sandwich" motif and the green-and-white striped paint scheme of earlier decades. A Boeing 747 freighter also features a similar special livery that will be revealed soon.
In the event, crew members dressed in vintage uniforms from various eras, highlighting the airline’s rich history of service. Additionally, a collection of merchandise inspired by the anniversary liveries will be released, blending historic design elements with modern aviation and lifestyle products.
Speaking at the celebration, Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam emphasized the airline’s commitment to innovation and growth, noting over HK$100 billion (US$12.8 billion) invested in fleets, lounges, and digital services. He expressed optimism about the future, reaffirming the airline’s role in maintaining Hong Kong’s prominence as an international aviation hub and its dedication to becoming the most loved service brand.
