Cathay Pacific has announced an extension of its flight cancellations to Dubai and Riyadh through to the end of April 2026, due to ongoing regional conflict affecting the Middle East. The airline initially suspended its flights to these cities until March 31, but due to escalating war, it has decided to extend the suspension by one month to prioritize safety.

The carrier confirmed that passengers and cargo customers affected by this suspension can rebook, reroute, or opt for cancellations with or without fees. The disruption is expected to impact not only direct routes but also connecting flights, with probable revenue losses on lucrative Gulf routes amid regional volatility.

In response, Cathay Pacific has also increased its fuel surcharges by approximately 105%, affecting long-haul routes including Europe, North America, and the Middle East, as a part of the reaction to rising fuel costs and market instability. Short- and medium-haul routes have seen similar percentage increases, which add to the overall travel expenses for passengers.

These developments exemplify the broader challenges facing airlines amid geopolitical unrest, as they navigate flight disruptions and rising operational costs, while maintaining safety and managing assets in uncertain times.
