Cathay Pacific has enhanced its pilot training capabilities by installing a state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo full-flight simulator at its training centre in Hong Kong. Manufactured by CAE, the simulator supports the airline’s commitment to operational excellence as it embarks on a fleet renewal plan involving over 100 new aircraft, including models like the A320neo and A321neo.
This new technology was unveiled during a ceremony at Cathay House, where airline officials and CAE representatives emphasized the importance of advanced simulation in ensuring safety and proficiency for future pilots. The simulator features CAE’s Prodigy visual system, designed to provide realistic training environments that bolster pilot readiness.
Alex McGowan, Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer of Cathay Pacific, stated that the addition of this simulator is a significant milestone that will improve training standards and reinforce the airline’s safety culture. Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Division President for Commercial Aviation, highlighted that the device represents a major step forward in their collaboration with Cathay Pacific, aiming to develop aviation talent through immersive training solutions.
CAE operates globally across more than 85 locations, training over 155,000 aviation professionals annually. Their comprehensive approach to simulation-based training ensures that airlines like Cathay Pacific can maintain high safety standards while expanding their fleet and service offerings.
