China Airlines has announced a comprehensive fleet modernization strategy aimed at upgrading its international and regional services with the addition of Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft. This move intends to enhance passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
The airline will phase out its aging Airbus A330 fleet, replacing it with 24 Boeing 787s, starting with the first deliveries in early 2026. These aircraft will serve key destinations such as Bangkok and Tokyo by mid-2026. Concurrently, China Airlines has ordered Airbus A350-1000s for long-haul routes, with deliveries beginning in 2029, further expanding its global reach into North America and Europe.
Cabin Upgrades and Future Expansion
To complement its fleet renewal, China Airlines plans to refurbish the cabins of 15 Airbus A350 aircraft by 2027, aiming for a more modern and comfortable passenger environment. The carrier also intends to strengthen its cargo operations by acquiring Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 777-8F freighters from 2030, supporting both passenger traffic growth and freight demand.
This multi-year strategy highlights China Airlines’ focus on sustainability through newer, fuel-efficient aircraft, while ensuring a high-quality travel experience for customers. The company's investment demonstrates its commitment to remaining competitive in the rapidly evolving global aviation market.
