European aviation is witnessing a dynamic period of expansion as leading low-cost carriers and airlines invest in new bases and upgraded infrastructure. Condor Airlines is moving its operations to Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3, a modern facility equipped with advanced technology to enhance passenger experience. This transition aligns with Condor's strategic long-term plans, including fleet renewal and infrastructure investment, aiming to strengthen its market position.
In addition, Condor plans to establish a new base at Vienna Airport starting in 2025, enabling direct flights to Frankfurt and Mediterranean destinations, thus expanding its reach into Central Europe’s leisure travel market. Simultaneously, Wizz Air is expanding into Montenegro with a new base in Podgorica, launching 14 routes to major European cities and increasing its presence in Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, EasyJet is set to open a new base at Newcastle Airport in 2026, supporting regional growth and job creation. Ryanair announced its first-ever base in Albania, located at Tirana, operating three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and launching ten new routes, further extending its low-cost network across Southeast Europe.
The development of Frankfurt’s Terminal 3 exemplifies Europe's focus on modernization, positioning Frankfurt as a key hub in the future of European aviation. These investments and strategic moves by airlines and airports aim to foster increased competition, improve passenger services, and support sustainable growth in the industry, promising more travel options and better connectivity across Europe.
