Dornier Technology, based in Clark, Philippines, has achieved certification from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (US FAA) authorizing it to conduct heavy maintenance on the Airbus A320 family of aircraft. This certification allows the company to undertake scheduled preventive maintenance, major repairs, and modifications, including D-Checks, on Airbus A318, A319, A320, and A321 aircraft, covering both CEO and NEO variants powered by engines from CFM, IAE, and Pratt & Whitney.
CEO Nick Gitsis explained that the certification followed a comprehensive audit by US FAA officials and enhances Dornier’s compliance with international standards. He highlighted the opportunity to expand their service offerings to global markets such as the US, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Pacific islands, emphasizing the strategic importance of the certification in strengthening their competitive edge.
Founded in 2008, Dornier Technology has diversified its maintenance services across several aircraft types, including ATR 42/72, Boeing 737, and BAE 146, and holds multiple certification from civil aviation authorities along with ISO 9001:2015 accreditation. The company aims to leverage the FAA approval and their skilled workforce to increase foreign airline clientele to 70% within a year, positioning the Philippines as a notable hub for aircraft maintenance and repair services.
Gitsis further stated, “The Philippines' growing reputation as an aircraft MRO hub, combined with our international certification, will support our growth goals and market presence.
