West Africa is experiencing a significant growth in air transport, largely driven by the expansion of ASKY Airlines, a prominent Pan-African carrier headquartered in Lomé, Togo. Founded in 2010 and strengthened by recent fleet additions, including a Boeing 737 MAX 8 delivered in late 2025, the airline has positioned Lomé as a key regional hub. ASKY benefits from strategic partnerships with Ethiopian Airlines as well as regional financial institutions, supporting its network expansion across the continent.
In August 2025, ASKY launched a new route to Nouakchott, its 30th destination, reinforcing the strategic importance of its Lomé base in connecting West, Central, and Southern Africa. This expansion facilitates trade, enhances mobility, and promotes economic opportunities across the region. The airline emphasizes safety, punctuality, onboard comfort, and quality service, with representatives highlighting their commitment to operational excellence.
Despite infrastructure and operational challenges, ASKY plays a vital role in African integration. As part of the Single African Air Transport Market of the African Union, it supports free trade, tourism, and regional development. The airline's fleet—comprising 15 aircraft including Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 models—serves multiple destinations across 27 countries.
Leaders from the airline, including Lucrèce Angélique Tity, note that visa exemptions and other measures facilitate exchanges and opportunities among African countries. Since its inception, ASKY has prioritized international cooperation and partnerships to foster growth. The airline remains optimistic about its future, aiming to strengthen connectivity and contribute to African economic integration.
