El Al has launched a new catering facility at Ben Gurion Airport, operated by Tamam (Aircraft Food Industries), which is believed to be the largest kosher airline food plant in the world. Spanning about 14,000 square meters, the facility has the capacity to produce roughly 50,000 meals per day, significantly increasing the airline's previous output. Equipped with advanced food management and quality assurance systems, this new plant aims to raise culinary standards for El Al's passengers.
The investment, which totals hundreds of millions of shekels, reflects El Al’s commitment to infrastructure development and passenger service enhancement. As its new centerpiece, the plant replaces an older, decades-old facility and will help diversify the meal options available on flights, allowing the airline to extend its reach to international markets with high-quality kosher meals.
Executive Statements and Future Outlook
El Al’s CEO, Levi Halevi, stated that the installation of the new plant is part of ongoing efforts to improve the customer experience and expand operational capabilities. Kenny Rozenberg, a controlling shareholder, underscored the significance of this achievement, noting the facility’s global prominence and its role in reinforcing the airline’s growth trajectory.
