Finalists for the prestigious Airline Award at the Routes Americas 2026 event have been announced, highlighting the significant efforts made by leading carriers in the Americas to expand their networks and strengthen regional air connectivity.

The competition includes notable airlines such as American Airlines, LATAM Airlines Group, and WestJet, all of which have demonstrated robust growth through new routes, capacity increases, and strategic partnerships. American Airlines recently added multiple new destinations within Mexico and the Caribbean, while planning long-haul flights to European and South American hubs.

Regional growth and strategic partnerships

LATAM Airlines Group has shown strong performance by carrying 87.4 million passengers in 2025 and expanding routes across South America, supported by its fleet investments including Embraer and Airbus aircraft. Meanwhile, WestJet's focus on Calgary International Airport as a global hub has resulted in increased service to Latin America, the Caribbean, and transatlantic markets, especially after acquiring Sunwing Airlines.

"These finalists exemplify the innovation and collaboration necessary for the region's air service growth," said [official spokesperson].

The winners will be honored during the Routes Americas Networking Evening in Rio de Janeiro, a key event for industry leaders to celebrate achievements and discuss future opportunities in the region's air transport sector.
