Hong Kong Airlines has announced an expansion of its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines, effective from 26 October 2025. The collaboration now includes Hong Kong Airlines’ services to Australia, with increased connectivity through Hong Kong to Sydney and Melbourne. Under the new agreement, Hong Kong Airlines places its HX code on Turkish Airlines flights between Hong Kong and Istanbul, while Turkish Airlines adds its TK code to flights operated by Hong Kong Airlines connecting Hong Kong with Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Sydney, and Melbourne. The move aims to strengthen the airlines’ international route networks and provide passengers with greater travel convenience.
Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has resumed flights from Abu Dhabi to Medina, enhancing its presence in Saudi Arabia and offering more options for religious, business, and leisure travelers. The new route connects Abu Dhabi with Medina, a city of significant spiritual importance. Etihad will operate five weekly flights to Medina with Airbus A321 aircraft, increasing later to six flights per week. This expansion is part of Etihad’s broader growth strategy, aiming to add 31 new destinations within a year.
Industry Connectivity and Network Growth
Officials from both airlines expressed their commitment to strengthening connectivity between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, providing seamless travel options for their customers. These developments reflect ongoing efforts in the aviation industry to expand networks and improve passenger experience amid a competitive global market.
