India and Brazil are nearing the finalization of several agreements ahead of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s visit scheduled from February 18 to 22, 2026. These pacts aim to enhance India’s pharmaceutical exports, deepen cooperation in critical mineral resources, and strengthen civil aviation ties. Brazil’s ambassador to India, Kenneth H da Nobrega, emphasized healthcare as a core focus, with an MoU expected to create new opportunities for Indian pharmaceutical companies in Brazil’s extensive public healthcare system.
Further discussions include collaboration in critical minerals, vital for sectors like clean energy and advanced manufacturing, leveraging Brazil’s mineral reserves. In civil aviation, a second MoU between the Adani Group and aircraft manufacturer Embraer is anticipated, following recent agreements to establish a manufacturing facility for regional aircraft in India.
Beyond trade, bilateral exchanges are set to grow, with Brazil planning to introduce a 10-year multiple-entry visa for Indian tourists, along with eased visa norms for business travelers. The visit marks a strategic move to bolster economic ties and address shared regional and global interests.
This diplomatic effort aims to expand cooperation in key sectors, fostering closer India-Brazil relations focused on economic growth, healthcare, and industrial collaboration, supporting both nations’ long-term development goals.
