Iran has announced its willingness to transfer aviation technology and operational expertise to Tajikistan, signaling a strengthening of regional cooperation. During a meeting in Dushanbe, Hossein Pourfarzaneh, head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization, emphasized Iran's experience in air safety, aircraft maintenance, air navigation, airport infrastructure, personnel training, and aircraft manufacturing. This initiative aims to build on the cultural and linguistic ties between the two countries, fostering broader collaboration in civil aviation.
Recent developments in Iran’s aviation sector include a strategic shift from maintaining an aging fleet under sanctions to developing independent aircraft design and manufacturing capabilities, as evidenced by test flights of indigenous aircraft. The Tajikistan Civil Aviation Authority welcomed Iran’s proposal, and a draft memorandum of understanding has been prepared to facilitate cooperation on training, safety, air navigation, security, and air transport connectivity, especially between Tehran and Dushanbe.
Analysts see this agreement as a pivotal step toward deeper technological exchange and capacity building in regional civil aviation, potentially aligning the two nations for increased air connectivity and shared technological advancements.
