Jambojet, a budget airline in Kenya and a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, is planning a significant expansion of its operations over the next five years. The airline intends to triple its fleet size to meet rising demand and to extend its route network into West and Southern Africa. According to its CEO, Karanja Ndegwa, the airline will acquire two additional aircraft in the upcoming year, primarily through leasing agreements, to support this growth.

Currently operating nine leased De Havilland DHC-8-400 aircraft, Jambojet is forecasted to reach a total fleet of 11 aircraft by early 2026 and 16 by 2029. The airline’s strategy emphasizes sustainable growth, efficiency, and improved customer experience. Financial reports indicate annual revenues exceeding 13 billion Kenyan shillings, driven by strong demand on key domestic routes and regional services such as Zanzibar.

Looking ahead, Jambojet plans to lease more Q400 aircraft in 2025 to accommodate rising passenger numbers, which are expected to increase by approximately 12% annually. The airline's expansion aims to strengthen its position in the regional market while exploring new destinations across the continent, supporting Kenya’s broader aviation development goals.
