The year 2026 is set to be a pivotal period for Japan's aviation sector, as numerous new routes and service expansions are scheduled to commence. Japan Airlines (JAL) will initiate a direct, non-stop flight between Tokyo Narita and New Delhi on January 17, 2026, significantly boosting Japan's connectivity to South Asia and promoting increased tourism and commerce.
Additionally, Japan Transocean Air (JTA), a subsidiary of JAL, will launch its first international route connecting Okinawa Naha with Taipei Taoyuan starting February 3, 2026, offering a new daily travel corridor for tourists and business travelers. Meanwhile, Peach Aviation is expanding its international network with new flights originating from Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya to destinations across South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, highlighting the rise of budget travel across Asia.
New Long-Haul Flight Services
ZIPAIR will operate charter flights between Tokyo Narita and Orlando in early 2026, providing direct access for Japanese tourists to Florida's theme parks and attractions. Furthermore, Etihad Airways plans to introduce daily Airbus A380 services to Tokyo Narita starting June 2026, marking its first use of the aircraft on this route and accommodating the demand for luxury and business travel.
StarFlyer will also look to relaunch international routes in late 2026, expanding its outreach within the Asia-Pacific region. On the domestic front, All Nippon Airways (ANA) will increase flight frequencies on primary routes such as Tokyo Haneda to Sapporo and Fukuoka. Furthermore, a new regional carrier, JCAS Airways, will begin operations from Kansai Airport, serving smaller airports across Japan and boosting regional connectivity.
These developments form part of Japan's broader effort to enhance air travel infrastructure, support economic growth, and foster international engagement through increased flight options and improved route networks.
