Kazakhstan is significantly enhancing its transportation infrastructure as part of national efforts to develop into a Eurasian transit hub. The country has repaired and constructed over 13,000 kilometers of roads, including strategic highways such as Center-West, Karaganda-Zhezkazgan, Aktobe-Ulgaysyn, and Atyrau-Dossor.
In the aviation sector, the expansion includes the addition of more than 35 new air routes, with direct flights connecting to major cities like Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Munich. Furthermore, construction has begun on three new airports in Zaysan, Katon-Karagay, and Kenderli, while Arkalyk Airport is being restored. The launch of Kazakhstan’s first national cargo airline is also planned to boost global transit capacity.
Railway infrastructure has received upgrades, incorporating second tracks on key routes, new lines, and modernization of railway stations nationwide. These developments are aligned with the country’s record-breaking economic performance, with GDP expected to surpass $300 billion and per capita GDP reaching $15,000, indicating robust growth across multiple sectors.
The efforts are part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s vision to transform Kazakhstan into a key transit and logistics hub, leveraging investments in transportation and infrastructure to foster international connectivity and economic diversification.
