Pegasus Airlines has announced a new fleet expansion project involving the acquisition of eight Airbus A321-200N aircraft scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026. This decision follows a recent regulatory filing detailing their plans for financing these jets, with the lenders to be selected through a competitive tender process.
The aircraft are part of Pegasus's long-standing order with Airbus, initiated in 2012, which initially included a commitment for 100 jets—comprising 42 A320-200Ns and 58 A321-200Ns. Over the years, the airline has expanded this backlog, adding a total of fifty A321-200Ns to its fleet, reinforcing its strategic focus on narrow-body aircraft for its regional operations.
Strategic Fleet Growth
According to the filings, the new aircraft will bolster Pegasus's capacity and support its network expansion plans, particularly as the airline continues to strengthen its position in the low-cost carrier market. The financing and delivery of these aircraft will be closely monitored as the airline aims to modernize its fleet and improve efficiency.
"This fleet expansion is a significant step for Pegasus Airlines, helping us to meet increasing passenger demand and enhance operational flexibility," stated a company spokesperson. The airline's fleet currently comprises 127 aircraft, serving 160 destinations with 664 daily flights, primarily from its hub at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
The added aircraft are expected to contribute substantially to maintaining Pegasus’s competitive edge in the region and support its long-term growth strategy amid dynamic market conditions.
