Qantas Airways' top executive expressed optimism Thursday that the recent decline in passenger demand on flights between Australia and the United States is only temporary. The airline's CEO, Vanessa Hudson, highlighted the improving economic factors, particularly the strengthening Australian dollar, which she believes will boost travel bookings in the upcoming months.
During an earnings conference call with financial analysts, Hudson noted that she anticipates conditions will improve for Qantas’ trans-Pacific routes during the second half of the fiscal year, which ends on June 30. The Australian dollar has recently risen above 70 U.S. cents, a development she expects will help attract more travelers between the two countries as the financial year progresses.
