The Qantas Group has launched a new Safety Academy aimed at cultivating safety leadership across multiple industries. Open for enrolment, the academy is a collaborative effort with Griffith University and RMIT University, focusing on micro-credentials related to safety culture, risk management, data analysis, and human safety factors.

Drawing upon its century of operational safety expertise, Qantas intends for the program to develop practical skills among safety professionals. The airline's reputation as one of the world’s safest carriers is underpinned by rigorous safety standards, including a seven-star safety rating and recognition among the top airlines for safety.

Leadership and Industry Impact

Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson highlighted that the initiative extends beyond aviation to industries like healthcare and mining, emphasizing safety as a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement. The academy is designed to support safety leaders at various career stages, providing them with sophisticated tools and principles to foster safer work environments.

The program's courses cover important topics such as cognitive performance, social human factors, risk analysis, and safety culture, with offerings from both RMIT and Griffith University. This effort underscores Qantas’ commitment to advancing safety standards and developing future safety leaders across Australia and internationally.
