Scotland's ACS Aviation has announced a significant fleet expansion during the AERO Friedrichshafen 2026 exhibition, with a Euro 3.4 million investment in Tecnam's P-Mentor aircraft. The deal includes confirmed orders for four aircraft with options for six more, aiming to increase the academy's fleet to 23 aircraft by 2027. This expansion project reflects the organization's growth and commitment to modern pilot training.
The Tecnam P-Mentor, a two-seat trainer fitted with Garmin G3X avionics and powered by Rotax engines, is recognized for its fuel efficiency and low CO₂ emissions, suitable for IFR training. The investment signifies Tecnam's confidence in the aircraft's performance and safety, as endorsed by the involved parties.
Craig McDonald, Group Technical Director at ACS Aviation, highlighted the strategic importance of this fleet upgrade in enhancing capacity and aligning training standards with airline industry demands. The deal was facilitated by Oriens Aviation, Tecnam's authorized dealer for the UK and Ireland, and marks the largest aircraft procurement in the history of ACS Aviation, which has trained over 450 pilots since 2007.
This development underscores ongoing growth in UK-based flight training sectors and Tecnam's expanding presence in aviation training markets across Europe.
