Singapore Airlines has announced a reduction in its planned Boeing 787 flights between Singapore and Taipei during May 2026. The airline will operate only two daily flights instead of the previously scheduled 18 weekly flights, reflecting a strategic move to optimise fleet utilization and respond to market demand.
According to the airline’s schedule, the flights will be operated by the Boeing 787-10 aircraft, with departure times from Singapore Changi at 0820 and 1145, arriving in Taipei at 1310 and 1630, respectively. The return flights will depart Taipei at 1425 and 1745, returning to Singapore at 1900 and 2215, maintaining their daily operation and high efficiency on this regional sector.
Significance of the Boeing 787 to Singapore Airlines
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner plays an important role within Singapore Airlines’ fleet, providing optimal performance on medium-length regional routes where larger aircraft like the Airbus A350, Boeing 777-300ER, and Airbus A380 may not be as effective. The airline’s fleet of 28 Boeing 787s, with an average age of 5.3 years, includes notable aircraft such as 9V-SCA, 9V-SCP, and the newest 9V-SDC and 9V-SDB.
In summary, while the schedule change indicates a temporary capacity adjustment, Singapore Airlines continues to leverage its versatile fleet and strategic route planning to maintain its service quality and network efficiency.
