SpaceX’s Starlink Aviation service has expanded significantly, now offering its internet connectivity on 2,500 aircraft after a strategic partnership with United Airlines. During a recent conference in Paris, SpaceX's Director of Starlink Aviation sales, Nick Galano, announced that the company has nearly doubled its in-flight Wi-Fi orders with this collaboration, highlighting the rapid growth of the service.
The partnership involves equipping United Airlines' fleet with Starlink internet, which is anticipated to be available on over 1,000 aircraft in the near future. Elon Musk previously indicated that Starlink Aviation has already been operating in more than 1,000 aircraft, including fleets from Hawaiian Airlines and Qatar Airways. Currently, the satellite constellation comprises 6,400 orbiting satellites, serving over 3 million users across 100 countries, extending beyond aviation to maritime vessels like Carnival cruise ships and Resorts World Cruises.
Capacity and Future Growth
Galano highlighted Starlink’s impressive capacity, describing it as "probably over 100 times what all the legacy systems have provided," demonstrating its potential to revolutionize internet access worldwide. The expansion underlines Starlink's commitment to transforming connectivity in remote and mobile environments, providing faster and more reliable internet services on land, at sea, and in the air.
This growth underscores SpaceX's ongoing efforts to broaden the reach of its satellite internet services, addressing the needs of global passengers and maritime operators alike as the network continues to evolve and expand its footprint.
