Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially launched its operations on November 1, 2025, marking the beginning of Vietnam's first leisure airline. The new carrier, a member of Sun Group, began connecting Phu Quoc island with key Vietnamese cities including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as international destinations such as South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India. The inaugural flights included a service from Noi Bai International Airport operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft, carrying 220 passengers to Phu Quoc.
During the launch, the airline demonstrated its commitment to regional development, with subsequent flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang also commencing. The Da Nang–Phu Quoc route was initially a commemorative flight and is scheduled for regular service starting March 2026. Nguyen Manh Quan, CEO of SPA, emphasized the significance of this milestone, highlighting its potential to transform Phu Quoc into a global tourism and aviation hub.
Passengers experienced festive celebrations, including in-flight performances and water cannon salutes at Phu Quoc International Airport. The airline aims to enhance travel options to the island, especially during peak tourism seasons and the Lunar New Year 2026, by offering affordable and accessible flights.
The launch underscores Vietnam’s growing aviation sector and the strategic role Phu Quoc is poised to play in regional tourism and connectivity, supported by the airline’s expanding network in the future.
