Universal Aviation, in partnership with AERODOM, has officially opened a new fixed-base operations (FBO) terminal at Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport in Samaná, Dominican Republic. The facility, measuring 300 square meters, was inaugurated on December 2 and is now the third Universal Aviation FBO in the country, following locations in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata.
The new terminal boasts a range of amenities, including a private passenger lounge, main hall, panoramic terrace with coastal views, onsite immigration and customs services, an executive kitchen, crew areas, and administrative offices. Designed by architect Rubén Merette and constructed by Abbot Puig, the facility underscores the airport's growing significance for luxury and executive aviation, aiming to leverage Samaná’s tourism potential.
AERODOM, which operates the airport as part of the VINCI Airports group, is extending its focus on the northeastern region through this new infrastructure. Universal Aviation entered the Dominican market in 2016 and has since expanded to serve seven airports nationwide. The project signifies confidence in Samaná’s emerging role as an aviation hub, with officials highlighting its contribution to regional economic growth and tourism development.
Danilo Rosario Jiménez, general director of Universal Aviation Dominican Republic, noted, "This project symbolizes confidence in Samaná’s potential as a new hub for executive aviation in the Caribbean." Alexandra Malvezin, AERODOM’s chief commercial officer, stated that the new FBO will bolster Samaná’s tourism and economic appeal. The opening ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Igor Rodríguez of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation and Juan Bancalari of the National Hotel and Tourism Association.
