Vietjet has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft, a milestone in its ongoing fleet modernization program, which involves an order of 200 Boeing jets valued at approximately USD 32 billion. The aircraft arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok and marks the beginning of a series scheduled through 2028 to bolster the airline's operational capacity.
This new Boeing 737-8 will initially serve domestic routes within Thailand, including Bangkok–Chiang Mai, starting in December 2025, before expanding to international routes such as Bangkok–Cam Ranh. The aircraft's advanced aerodynamics, LEAP-1B engines, and compatibility with sustainable aviation fuel aim to reduce emissions by up to 20% and noise levels in line with ICAO standards, supporting Vietjet’s commitment to sustainability.
Strategic Growth and Expansion
The airline’s comprehensive fleet strategy emphasizes operational efficiency and regional expansion, with future plans targeting markets in Japan, South Korea, and China, followed by entry into European and American territories. The Boeing Sky Interior ensures a comfortable experience for passengers, aligning with Vietjet’s goal of providing safe, high-quality, and environmentally responsible air travel on a global scale. This fleet upgrade is a key component of Vietjet’s broader economic and trade development efforts, fostering substantial growth in the Asia–Pacific region.
