Vietnam's Long Thanh International Airport has successfully completed its flight inspection and calibration phases, an essential step toward its scheduled opening in 2026. The second phase of testing, carried out from October 26 to 29, involved verification of the airport's advanced surveillance systems, including primary and secondary radars and the ADS-B setup. These systems are crucial for safe and efficient air traffic management, especially in Vietnam's busiest airspace region.

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, along with its partners from the Czech Republic's Air Navigation Services, spearheaded the inspection. Experts praised the professionalism and technical expertise of Vietnamese specialists, noting that all systems met or exceeded ICAO standards. This achievement paves the way for Long Thanh to qualify for both regional and international commercial operations, reducing future delays and enhancing aviation safety.

Coordination and Safety Protocols

During testing, coordination among multiple agencies was seamless, adhering to pre-approved protocols. The conducted flights assessed the synchronized operation of surveillance equipment, ensuring the airport's readiness to operate at full capacity. The inspection was conducted under strict safety protocols, with all operations meeting the rigorous requirements of the Ho Chi Minh Flight Information Region.

Officials indicated that once fully operational, Long Thanh International Airport will significantly boost Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity, contributing to economic growth. The completion of this inspection marks a milestone in its development and signals that the airport is on track to begin commercial flights in 2026.
