Women in Aviation International (WAI) celebrated a significant milestone in their annual Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) on September 20, 2025. The event, which is now in its 11th year, saw the participation of more than 42,000 young people worldwide. Over 200 events were conducted, including activities at airports, museums, Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), and hangars, aimed at inspiring girls to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace.

The program provides opportunities for participants to meet female aviation role models, attend career development panels, and engage with aircraft and aviation environments. Activities ranged from sectional chart treasure hunts and simulator flights to educational sessions on aircraft engines, avionics, weather systems, and space exploration.

"Our Girls in Aviation Day events continue to inspire and spark curiosity among young participants as they discover the world of aviation," remarked Lynda Coffman, CEO of WAI. She emphasized the support of chapter members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters whose efforts made these international events possible. The growth of GIAD since its inception in 2015 demonstrates a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in aviation careers, with over 180,000 youth reached in the past 11 years.

The 2025 program received backing from key Strategic Partners, including Amazon and United Airlines, along with foundations and organizations dedicated to aviation education. The continued success of GIAD underscores WAI's mission to introduce and nurture interest in aviation among young women, shaping the future workforce of the industry.
