AirAsia has secured the title of the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 17th consecutive year at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, reaffirming its position in the aviation industry. This achievement coincides with the airline’s 25th anniversary, a milestone reflecting its longstanding commitment to providing accessible and affordable air travel globally.

Established as one of the most prestigious recognitions in aviation, the Skytrax awards are based on the independent World Airline Survey, which gathers feedback from travelers worldwide. The award signifies the trust and confidence passengers place in AirAsia, a testament to its consistent service quality over the past quarter-century.

Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Co-Founder of AirAsia, expressed pride in the airline’s continued success, stating: “We started AirAsia 25 years ago with a mission to make flying accessible to everyone. To be trusted by millions of travelers worldwide today is a great achievement. This award reflects the trust our guests have in us and we never take it for granted.”

Group CEO Bo Lingam highlighted the importance of customer confidence, noting: “This recognition is a vote of confidence from our guests. Despite the challenges faced by the aviation sector, our team’s resilience and dedication have sustained our growth. We plan to continue expanding across ASEAN and beyond, connecting more people to their destinations while maintaining high standards of trust and service.”

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, congratulated AirAsia on its repeated success, emphasizing the airline’s dedication to providing affordable travel options in a competitive market.

Over the past 25 years, AirAsia transformed from a single low-cost airline into a major global network connecting millions across Asia and other regions. Its evolution aligns with its core mission to deliver accessible, value-for-money air travel.

The Skytrax awards are rooted in extensive passenger surveys, with no fees charged to participating airlines. The recognition underscores AirAsia’s ongoing commitment to quality and cost-effective service in a rapidly growing industry.
