AAR, a prominent North American MRO provider, announced a definitive agreement to acquire Aircraft Reconfig Technologies, a specialized aircraft interiors engineering firm, for $35 million. The transaction aims to enhance AAR’s engineering capabilities, particularly in aircraft interior modifications, and to enable in-house certification of complex design projects.
Aircraft Reconfig Technologies, founded in 1990 and based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is FAA approved and possesses a robust portfolio of patents and supplemental type certificates. The acquisition will support AAR’s growth by expanding its offerings and differentiating it from competitors.
Officials from AAR highlighted that the integration of Aircraft Reconfig’s skills and approvals will reduce reliance on external certifiers, expand design scope, and improve project turnaround. The company expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, pending regulatory approval, and anticipates positive effects on margins and earnings.
This strategic move aligns with AAR’s broader plan to develop proprietary solutions and expand its engineering services to meet evolving airline needs. The company’s leadership expressed excitement about welcoming Aircraft Reconfig Technologies into their corporate family and leveraging its capabilities for future growth.
