Best-selling commercial aircraft of all time

The 20 airliner families delivered in the largest numbers. Figures for aircraft still in production are deliveries to 30 September 2026, from the manufacturers' own order books; out-of-production families show final totals. The Airbus A320 family overtook the Boeing 737 in October 2025.

Airline

The world's longest scheduled flights

The 15 longest nonstop scheduled passenger routes flying in October 2026, ranked by great-circle distance between the two airports; where two airlines fly the same airport pair, the route is listed once. Flight time is the scheduled time of the slower direction as timetabled in mid-October 2026, and actual flying distance is usually longer than the great-circle figure. Qantas plans nonstop Sydney – London flights from October 2027, which would take the top spot, but they have not started yet.

Airport

Airports with the most demanding approaches

Airports where terrain, weather or a short runway make the approach unusually demanding, ordered by how formal the rules for pilots are. All are safe when flown by trained crews. Based on official aeronautical information (AIP) and regulators' lists. Checked October 2026.

Airline

The world's shortest scheduled flights

Scheduled passenger routes with published timetables in October 2026, ranked by great-circle distance between the two airports. Where several hops in the same island group or regional network qualify, only the shortest is listed, and each route appears once rather than in both directions. Flight times are the scheduled gate-to-gate times as of October 2026.

Airport

The world's highest airports with scheduled flights

The 15 highest airports by aerodrome elevation that have scheduled passenger flights in October 2026. Eleven are on the Tibetan Plateau and in western China, where thin air needs runways of 4 to 5 km. Elevations are from published airport data (Wikipedia and OurAirports, which agree within a few metres); airlines from October 2026 departure boards.

Airport

The world's shortest runways with scheduled flights

Airports whose longest runway is the shortest of any with scheduled passenger flights today. Lengths are from each country's official aeronautical information (AIP); airlines from 2026 timetables. Checked October 2026.

The ten busiest air routes in the world in 2025, ranked by the number of scheduled seats in both directions over the calendar year, as published by the aviation data company OAG. All ten are domestic routes, nine of them in Asia-Pacific. The busiest international route, Hong Kong – Taipei, had 6.8 million seats and falls just outside the top ten.

Airport

Ghost airports: built for millions, used by few

Airports built or rebuilt at great cost that see a fraction of the traffic they were planned for, using official passenger figures. Ordered by the gap between what was built and how it is used; the last one shows a ghost airport can come back. Checked October 2026.

Airport

The nine airports with scheduled passenger flights that lie below sea level, as of October 2026. Most sit around the Caspian Sea; two are on reclaimed Dutch land.
