ABX Air, a prominent cargo airline operating out of Wilmington Air Park, has announced a significant strategic move by entering into a long-term ACMI agreement with Miami-based freight forwarder Global Aviation Link, Inc. The deal entails the deployment of one Boeing 767-300F aircraft, supporting the operator's goal of expanding its charter and freight services in various markets.

This partnership underscores ABX Air's broader corporate strategy of enhancing its fleet capabilities and connecting global logistics networks. The agreement allows ABX Air to support Global Aviation Link's expansion plans into markets including Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, strengthening its position in the North and South American freight sector.

Fleet Upgrades and Future Plans

In addition to the ACMI deal, ABX Air is preparing to introduce Airbus A330-300(P2F) aircraft into its fleet for Amazon.com, with the first aircraft, N817CM, undergoing maintenance at present. The airline's current fleet features a range of Boeing 767 variants, including the 767-200(F), 767-200(SF), 767-300ER(BCF), and 767-300(BDSF), illustrating its focus on mid-sized widebody freighters suited for e-commerce logistics.

Industry observers interpret these developments as a strategic effort by ABX Air to modernize and expand its fleet, accommodating increasing freight volumes driven by the growth of online retail. The combination of new agreements and aircraft acquisitions positions ABX Air for further growth in a competitive air freight market, aligned with the changing demands of global commerce.
