Indonesia's aviation sector is entering a critical growth phase. Following the 2024 merger of Angkasa Pura I and Angkasa Pura II into Injourney Airports, which now manages 35 airports across Indonesia, the country's aviation industry is forecasted to grow at a compound annual rate of 5.2% until 2054, making it one of the top ten fastest-growing markets globally. The surge in passenger numbers necessitates enhanced airport security standards to maintain safety and confidence.

In response to this evolving landscape, Injourney Airports hosted the Airport Security Commanders Forum 2026 in Bandung on April 20-21, attracting over 100 security leaders and stakeholders from Indonesian airports, regional regulators, and airlines. This event fostered international collaboration and knowledge sharing aimed at strengthening regional aviation security practices.

Representatives from ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East participated, with Mr. Gary Leung, Senior Manager of Security & Facilitation, highlighting regional priorities such as compliance with international regulations, emerging threat mitigation, advanced screening technology adoption, and workforce development.

Over recent years, ACI has partnered with Indonesian airports through initiatives like the Airport Excellence Programme in Security, aiming to bolster security standards amidst ongoing industry growth. Moving forward, ACI APAC & MID intends to deepen collaborations with Injourney Airports to support Indonesia's expanding aviation sector.
