ADB SAFEGATE has announced the divestment of its terminal business line, enabling the company to focus solely on its core expertise in airside operations and technological innovation. This strategic move aligns with the growing complexity of airport environments and the need for advanced, resilient solutions to ensure safety and efficiency.
The company is advancing its development of next-generation airfield lighting systems, intelligent power solutions, and integrated digital platforms for airfield, apron, and tower applications. It is also expanding its research and development efforts through its ADB SAFEGATE LABS initiative, promoting collaborations with airport partners to test and deploy emerging technologies in real-world settings.
Further strengthening its presence in Belgium, ADB SAFEGATE is upgrading its facilities in Machelen to improve product development, manufacturing, and quality control. These investments reinforce Belgium’s position as a global hub of airside innovation.
Upcoming Airside Innovation Summit
The company plans to launch the Airside Innovation Summit, a global forum to address pressing challenges related to safety, automation, and sustainability in airport operations, with participation from industry leaders and regulators.
“Airports are under unprecedented operational pressure. This decision allows us to dedicate our expertise, innovation, and resources entirely to the most safety-critical and performance-sensitive part of airport operations — the airside. Our ambition is to lead the digital transformation of airside environments and support airports worldwide in converting operational complexity into measurable performance gains,”
CEO Laurent Dubois emphasized that the divestment is a strategic decision to sharpen focus and foster innovation in airside solutions, while the terminal business will continue under new ownership with long-term growth goals.
