Air Astana Group has announced the signing of a firm order for 25 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, making it the airline’s largest-ever direct fleet order. The deal coincides with the airline’s 20th anniversary of operating its first A320 in 2006. The new order comprises five A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft, which will be used to modernize and expand the fleet.
"This significant fleet expansion demonstrates Air Astana’s dedication to operational efficiency and service excellence," said Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana. "The Airbus A320neo Family has been successful with us, especially the A321LR in its premium configuration, which offers long-range capabilities coupled with enhanced onboard experience. We believe this investment will foster sustainable growth and profitability in the future."
Supporting Fleet Modernization and Market Leadership
The airline plans to deploy these aircraft across its main carrier and low-cost unit FlyArystan. Currently, the group operates a fleet of 59 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Airbus EVP of Commercial Aircraft Benoît de Saint-Exupéry highlighted the appeal of the A320neo family, especially in fast-growing markets like Kazakhstan, and expressed support for Air Astana’s ongoing modernization efforts.
"The A320neo Family offers significant fuel savings and environmental benefits, along with a spacious cabin that maximizes passenger comfort,"
said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry. "This fleet renewal will reinforce Air Astana’s position as a regional leader in fleet modernization and operational excellence."
The Airbus A320 family remains the most ordered single-aisle aircraft worldwide, with over 19,000 units sold. The A321neo model provides extended range and performance, further enhancing the carrier’s capabilities.
