Air China Cargo has announced the purchase of six Airbus A350F freighters, marking a milestone as the first Chinese carrier to place such an order for this advanced aircraft. The airline, based in Beijing, has been expanding its cargo operations since mid-2025, establishing numerous routes across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. The new fleet addition aims to improve efficiency and operational stability, supported by the aircraft's state-of-the-art features and environmental benefits.

The Airbus A350F, touted as the world's most advanced freighter, offers impressive capabilities including a payload of up to 111 tonnes and an 8,700 km range. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, it promises a 40% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to older models. Made of over 70% advanced materials, the aircraft is significantly lighter and includes the industry’s largest main deck cargo door.

Aircraft Environmental Standards and Future Capabilities

Designed to meet ICAO’s 2027 CO₂ standards, the A350F is also planned to be 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) capable upon entry into service, with a goal of 100% SAF capability by 2030. Assembly of test aircraft is currently progressing in Toulouse, and as of October 2025, Airbus has received 1,445 orders for its A350 family worldwide, including 74 for the A350F from 12 clients.

In addition, Air Algérie has recently taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900, broadening its long-haul fleet. This aircraft, featuring Airbus’s new Airspace cabin, will support new transatlantic and Asian connections, with plans for seven more units. The airline is positioning itself to be a key operator of this aircraft type in Africa, emphasizing maintenance and training expansion.

These developments reflect ongoing trends in aviation—focusing on modernization, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, ensuring the sector’s growth aligns with global standards and future demands.
