Air Europa has entered into a new codeshare agreement with SKY Airline, a Chilean low-cost carrier, to enhance its connectivity and market reach within Latin America. Announced on 10 March 2026, the partnership enables Air Europa to place its code on SKY Airline’s flights operating from Lima to Santiago and to five additional domestic destinations in Peru. Further Latin American routes from Santiago are expected to be incorporated into the partnership.
Though currently a minor player in the European airline industry, Air Europa is actively expanding its Latin American operations through strategic alliances. The cooperation with SKY Airline not only helps them extend their market reach but also supports the developing relationship with Turkish Airlines, which aims to increase regional connectivity and business opportunities.
Strategic Market Expansion
The code share agreement is a step towards solidifying Air Europa’s presence in Latin America without direct flight operations to Chile, leveraging SKY Airline’s established network. This approach allows Air Europa to provide its customers with more seamless travel options between Europe and Latin America, especially in the Chilean market where it previously had limited direct presence.
"This cooperation expands our reach and offers passengers more convenient travel options between Europe and Latin America," said a company spokesperson.
The deal is indicative of broader industry trends where strategic partnerships are increasingly vital for airline growth in competitive international markets. It demonstrates how airlines are optimizing their networks by combining routes and sharing resources to maximize efficiency and customer service.
