Air India and Singapore Airlines have announced an expansion of their commercial cooperation, aimed at increasing flight options and improving connectivity between India and Singapore. Effective from October 15, the airlines will enable travelers to book eligible flights operated by either airline separately, without the previous requirement that codeshare flights include flights from both carriers.
This initiative, part of their ongoing Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement signed earlier this year, covers 126 weekly flights connecting Singapore with eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Singapore Airlines holds a 25.1 percent stake in Air India, underscoring the strategic alliance between these carriers and their efforts to enhance passenger convenience and route availability. The move is expected to provide travelers with greater flexibility in itinerary planning and booking options.
This cooperation signifies a strengthened partnership between the airlines, potentially increasing competition and service quality on these key Asia-Pacific routes and offering more comprehensive choices for passengers traveling between India and Singapore.
