Air India has expanded its deployment of Salesforce's artificial intelligence platform, Agentforce, to enhance its customer service operations. The airline has built a comprehensive digital ecosystem integrating over 140 enterprise systems, underpinned by more than 30 AI initiatives aimed at automating key processes.
Notably, AI-driven solutions have dramatically reduced service turnaround times: refund processing now takes four hours compared to 14 days previously, and passenger name updates have been shortened from three days to just 30 minutes. These technological advancements are part of the airline's broader strategy to leverage digital tools for operational efficiency and improved customer experience.

Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Air India, highlighted that the AI initiatives are about more than just automation—they represent a redefinition of airline customer service, emphasizing faster resolutions, consistency, and lower customer effort. Salesforce’s President and CEO, Arundhati Bhattacharya, added that the future of customer experience will depend on how intelligently businesses can respond to customer needs, facilitated by intelligent AI agents and trusted data at a global level.
The AI platform facilitates automated handling of tasks such as eligibility checks for name changes, validation, ticket reissuance, and communication, alongside an AI-powered knowledge system offering operational guidance through conversational interfaces. These efforts are continuously evaluated on their ability to enhance revenue, cut costs, and enable new capabilities, reflecting Air India’s commitment to digital transformation and customer satisfaction.
