Air India successfully evacuated 228 passengers who were stranded in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after their scheduled San Francisco to Delhi flight was diverted owing to technical issues. The incident involved the operation of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which landed in Ulaanbaatar on Monday and was followed by a relief flight departing the next day.

The diverted aircraft, identified as a Boeing 777, was carrying a total of 245 individuals, including 17 crew members. The technical concern was identified during the flight, prompting a safe precautionary landing in Mongolia. Subsequently, Air India dispatched a Boeing 777 to Ulaanbaatar to ferry passengers back to Delhi, arriving on Wednesday morning at approximately 8:24 am.

Aircraft Involved in the Incident

The relief operation involved a Boeing 787 Dreamliner for initial diversion and a Boeing 777 for flight continuation. These aircraft are recognized by their respective IATA codes: A388 and B77L. The situation underscores the critical importance of aircraft maintenance and safety protocols in international aviation operations.

The airline's swift response and deployment of a relief aircraft demonstrate its commitment to passenger safety and operational reliability.
