Air India has been honored with several prestigious awards at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, held in London. The airline was named the "Best Airline in India" and also received the award for "Best Airline Staff in India & South Asia," recognizing the excellence of its frontline teams in cabin crew, airport, and ground services. Additionally, Air India earned a Skytrax 4-Star Airline Certification for its Business and Economy classes, improving from its prior 3-Star rating.
Campbell Wilson, the airline's CEO & Managing Director, attributed the success to the airline’s dedicated workforce, stating that the professional, warm, and committed team members are integral to the ongoing transformation. These accolades reflect the positive impact of the airline’s multi-phase Vihaan.AI strategy, which has focused on fleet modernization, digital upgrades, and customer service enhancements.
Fleet Modernization and Customer Metrics
Over 130 aircraft, including India’s first Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-9 models, have been upgraded or introduced, resulting in notable increases in passenger satisfaction. The airline’s Net Promoter Score (NPS) has surged more than 70 points, indicating improved traveler advocacy, particularly on flagship routes such as those operated by the A350 and B787-9 aircraft.
Wilson emphasized that the recognition belongs to the more than 24,000 employees whose professionalism underpins the airline's current success. The awards serve as a milestone in the airline’s strategic effort to establish itself as a competitive, global carrier with a focus on quality, innovation, and customer experience, paving the way for continued growth in domestic and international markets.
