Air New Zealand, the national airline of New Zealand, has announced a significant boost to its international and domestic flight network, following a challenging period marked by aircraft storage and engine issues. The airline has successfully restored its Boeing 787-9 fleet and is now launching new routes connecting Christchurch to Singapore and Tokyo, reinstating long-haul services after more than six years.
In addition, Air New Zealand will make history as the first international airline to operate flights to Western Sydney Airport, with services from Auckland starting in late October. These flights will be operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft, offering three weekly rotations and benefiting from the airport's relaxed curfew restrictions, providing a new gateway into Sydney for international travelers.
The airline's new routes include thrice-weekly non-stop services from Christchurch (CHC) to Singapore (SIN) and Tokyo Narita (NRT), both utilizing Boeing 787-9 aircraft. These efforts reflect the airline's strategic recovery and expansion plans, including seasonal flights from Perth and other domestic routes. Overall, the growing network underscores Air New Zealand's commitment to rebuilding international connectivity and supporting tourism and business travel.
