Air New Zealand has concluded 2025 with notable accolades, including being named the safest airline in the world, the best in the South Pacific, and one of the top carriers globally. The airline received multiple awards such as Oceania’s Leading Airline and the World’s Safest Airline at the 2025 World Travel Awards, alongside recognition from Forbes Travel Guide for its innovative Skycouch seats.

Furthermore, in the 2026 South Pacific category, Air New Zealand was acknowledged as the Best Overall Airline by APEX. Audience votes from USA TODAY’s 10BEST Awards placed the airline second in several categories, including Best Airline, Cabin Crew, and Airline Food. AirlineRatings.com ranked it as the third best airline worldwide in 2025, affirming its commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.

Recognition for Sustainability and Regional Development

The airline’s sustainability efforts were also recognized, winning the Asia Pacific CAPA Environmental Sustainability Award of 2025 and receiving praise from IATA for leadership in sustainable procurement. These awards reflect Air New Zealand’s broader commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

During the year, the airline invested in modernizing its fleet, including retrofitting its Dreamliner fleet with new cabins and entertainment systems. It launched its first electric aircraft program with BETA Technologies and unveiled a new uniform inspired by Aotearoa’s rich culture. Additionally, the airline supported 19 regional events across New Zealand through its sponsorship initiatives.

Beyond its operational achievements, Air New Zealand was named New Zealand’s Most Attractive Employer for the third consecutive year, underscoring its strong regional reputation.
